A Little Bit of Rain on the Party Today

Nothing drastic though! I promise. I had arranged my big iTunes free download of Disappearing in Plain Sight for Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th of June. Instead it happened on Thursday and Friday. I didn’t catch on until it was too late to fix the situation. So, I didn’t promote at all on Thursday – did a bunch of promotion on Friday – had a bunch more planned for today, which I won’t be doing. Life, right?

I would like to lay this at the feet of my assisted self-publishing choice, which took so much of the direct control of such things out of my hands. But to be fair, I read blog posts and updates on Facebook sites about mix-ups and messes every single day. We live in an imperfect world. Today it just happened to catch up with me.

During party month we (and I’ll happily use the royal form here) refuse to give into such frustrations. Life goes on and so should the party. Don’t forget the prizes I mentioned. All month long. All likes for the month of June will be put in a draw for the wonderful prize of a guest appearance on my blog. All comments for a $5.00 Amazon gift card. And all new followers and pingbacks for a trade paperback copy of Disappearing in Plain Sight. Get your name in all three draws.

I am so in love with this clematis that is blooming right outside my kitchen door! Puts a big smile on my face.

Drum roll. Moving onto another topic. What could be more party fun than having tea with a dragon?

I invite you to pop over to Patrick O’Scheen’s blog and read the interview he did with me entitled – Tea with a Dragon. It is an absolute delight and you will be stunned at how articulate I can be while having tea and fancy cakes with a real dragon. I’m quite proud of myself – I don’t even get rattled when he so obviously thinks I’ve eaten all the lady fingers. As you can imagine, that is bound to get a dragon somewhat miffed. Please check it out. Reading is believing.

  1. It looks as though your clematis has gotten just the right amount of rain ~ beautiful!

At least you know these mix-ups have happened to others. It’s still unfortunate, though.

Nice interview, and so interesting to get a sense of how you perceived certain of your characters. The idea of Caleb becoming a different, more iconic, person after his passing is an intriguing one.

    • Thanks, Roy. I love the feedback on the interviews from people who have read the book. Of course readers have their own ideas about things and I always wonder how much they really want to be burdened by what the author thought. Once the book is out there it goes beyond the writer for sure.

Great interview Fran Can’t wait to see you guys next Friday. FYI I only sold 2 books. I will keep plugging away.

Glad you’re not getting the mix-ups get to you. Unfortunately it does seem to happen an awful lot. Keep plugging away – you’re doing such a great job 😉

    • Thanks, Gemma. I did get a lot of feedback from people saying this is a common occurence with iTunes and Freisen Press let me know today that the mistake was not at their end but with iTunes. Important to say that. So, even if I had all the control, I probably couldn’t have controlled this. Chalk it up to experience.

Firstly, those are such lovely flowers and secondly – I am feeling pretty jealous that you had tea with a dragon! That is a great interview and the way you have reflected on your story is as interesting and well spoken as your writing. May all of the houses align for you and book 2!

    • Tea with a dragon was fantastic. I really enjoyed answering Patrick’s questions. Things are going well with The Light Never Lies. Fingers crossed to have it go out to beta readers by mid-summer.

  7. […] that photos 1 & 3 were taken by wife Francis, of Disappearing in Plain Sight – writing about writing – check it […]
